Team India Arrives in New York for the T20 World Cup 2024
The first group of Indian players has arrived in New York ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. This batch, which includes captain Rohit Sharma, pace bowler Jasprit Bumrah, and top-ranked T20I batsman Suryakumar Yadav, departed for the United States earlier on Saturday. The BCCI shared a video on their official social media showing the players arriving at the New York airport and boarding the team bus.
India’s T20 World Cup campaign kicks off on June 5 against Ireland at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York. They will face Pakistan on June 9, and then play against the USA on June 12 and Canada on June 15 to complete their Group A matches.
India aims to end their ICC trophy drought, having last won the ICC Champions Trophy in 2013. Despite reaching several finals and semifinals in various ICC events since then, they have not secured a major ICC trophy. India hopes to win their first T20 World Cup title since the inaugural tournament in 2007. In the 2022 edition in Australia, India was defeated by England in the semifinals.
