The 13th edition of the Cricket World Cup is scheduled to take place in India from October 5 to November 19. The tournament will span across 12 venues and commence with a match between defending champions England and New Zealand at Ahmedabad. The Sri Lanka Cricket Selection Committee has finalized a 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Qualifier tournament in Zimbabwe. Inspired by the review, Nissanka’s performance accelerated, hitting Evans for three fours in the subsequent over and achieving his half-century shortly thereafter. The century partnership was reached in the 19th over, with Karunaratne making 29 runs before being dismissed by Richard Ngarava, leaving Sri Lanka at 104 for one. Nissanka continued his strong performance, supported by Kusal Mendis, who unselfishly refused runs to allow Nissanka a chance at a century. A wide ball from Wellington Masakadza brought the scores level, and Nissanka scored a four on the next ball to achieve his second ODI century and secure the win. As a result, Dasun Shanaka’s team secured a place in the World Cup scheduled for October in India.
On the other hand, Zimbabwe is still in a favourable position to secure a place in the World Cup by defeating Scotland on Tuesday, marking their return to the Cricket World Cup since 2015.
