Rajasthan Royals ended Royal Challengers Bangalore’s turbulent IPL run with a scrappy four-wicket victory in the Eliminator in Ahmedabad on Wednesday. After their bowlers restricted RCB to 172/8, RR’s batters faltered in the middle overs, allowing RCB to stay in the contest. However, the 2008 champions ultimately secured the win with an over to spare, finishing at 174/6, thanks to Rovman Powell’s unbeaten 16 in a tense conclusion.

Riyan Parag (36 off 26) showed resilience to keep RR’s hopes alive in the tournament, marking their first win after four losses and an abandoned game. They will face Sunrisers Hyderabad in Chennai on Friday for a spot in the IPL final.

Shimron Hetmyer also contributed crucially with 26 off 14 balls. Despite the game swinging back and forth, RR maintained their edge with impactful performances. Mohammed Siraj (2/33) raised RCB’s hopes by dismissing Parag and Hetmyer in the 18th over, but Powell’s two boundaries off Lockie Ferguson in the penultimate over sealed the win for RR.

Yashasvi Jaiswal (45 off 30) provided a strong start at the top. Initially unconvincing with runs coming off edges, Jaiswal gained confidence and hit four fours in the third over. Tom Kohler-Cadmore (20) also contributed, despite a dropped catch by Glenn Maxwell. Lockie Ferguson eventually dismissed him with a slow yorker.

Jaiswal, struggling in the heat, received on-field treatment but soon played a loose shot, getting out to Cameron Green. Karn Sharma then stumped Sanju Samson (17), and Dhruv Jurel (8) was run out by a sharp throw from Virat Kohli and Green.

RR felt the pressure going into the 15th over but targeted Green, who had bowled well up to that point. Hetmyer and Parag hit him for a six and a four, taking 17 runs off the over.

RR’s bowlers had earlier performed well, led by Trent Boult (4-0-16-1) and Ravichandran Ashwin (4-0-19-2), who dismissed Cameron Green (27) and Glenn Maxwell (0) consecutively. Avesh Khan (3/44) also contributed. Fielders, particularly Rovman Powell with two excellent catches, supported the bowlers effectively.
