RCB skipper Faf du Plessis dedicated his Player of the Match award to Dayal

In a thrilling match, CSK needed 17 runs off the final over, but Yash Dayal’s composure helped RCB secure a 27-run victory. RCB skipper Faf du Plessis dedicated his Player of the Match award to Dayal, who, despite being hit for a six by Dhoni on the first ball of the final over, managed to seal the win. Du Plessis was recognized for his 54 off 39 balls, setting a solid foundation alongside Virat Kohli’s 47 as RCB posted 218 for five. Although CSK needed over 200 runs to qualify and came close with efforts from Dhoni and Jadeja, they fell short.

Du Plessis praised Dayal, stating, “I dedicate the Man of the Match to Yash Dayal! I advised him that taking pace off the ball was the best strategy on this wicket.” He also expressed his delight with the match’s atmosphere and noted the challenges posed by rain. Despite the weather and interruptions, RCB’s batting contributions and their fans’ support were crucial.
CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad attributed their loss to missing key players and regular wicket losses. Despite scoring 200 being achievable on that pitch, CSK finished fifth in the standings. Gaikwad acknowledged the impact of injuries on their performance, citing the absence of frontline bowlers and top-order batsman Devon Conway. He reflected on the season, stating he was satisfied with seven wins out of 14 games despite not reaching the playoffs. Gaikwad, one of the top run-scorers, expressed disappointment at not advancing, emphasizing that personal achievements mean little without team success.
