At the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Thursday, legendary Australian bowler Ricky Ponting gave outstanding Australian pacer Pat Cummins the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year award. In 2023, Ponting—who was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame and received the same honour in 2006 and 2007—presented his fellow countryman with the trophy in honour of his achievements. As captain of both the Test and One Day International teams, Cummins guided his nation to remarkable success in 2018. First, he defeated India at The Oval to win the World Test Championship, and then he triumphed over the same opposition in the Ahmedabad ODI World Cup final. For his part, Cummins had a successful year. He scored 254 runs and claimed 42 Test wickets at a pace of 27.50 to help the white team win a Test match in India and keep the Ashes away from home. Cummins took 15 wickets and made a major impact with the bat (128 runs at 32) down the order, which helped Australia win the World Cup.

Australia, under Cummins, has a chance to win the World Test Championship and the World White-ball Cup if they win the T20 World Cup in 2024. With 17 Test wickets at 25.64 and 157 runs at 26 with the bat, along with five wickets at an economy of less than eight in as many Twenty20 Internationals, the 31-year-old is still making an impression in 2024.

Cummins is currently competing for Australia in the Super 8 match of the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2024 against Bangladesh as a member of the playing XI. Australia chose to bowl first in the match after winning the toss.
In their Super 8 match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup 2024 at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium on Thursday (local time), Australia restricted Bangladesh to 140/8 because of Pat Cummins’ outstanding hat-trick, despite Najmul Hossain Shanto’s valiant 41 and Towhid Hridoy’s blitz cameo of 40 runs. With five wickets between them, Pat Cummins and Adam Zampa were Australia’s standout bowlers. With just Towhid Hridoy (40 off 28) left in the middle, his team reached the 140-run milestone thanks to some vicious smashes.
