Ravichandran Ashwin expressed his belief that Rohit Sharma will not leave the Mumbai Indians and will continue with the franchise in the 2025 IPL season. Last year, Hardik Pandya replaced Rohit as the captain of Mumbai Indians, one of the most successful teams in IPL history, a decision that received mixed reactions from fans. Ashwin commented, “Even if Rohit decides not to captain, it’s understandable. He’s led India and Mumbai numerous times, and even without the captaincy, playing for Mumbai is fulfilling. For some players, money isn’t the main factor at a certain stage in their careers.”

Rohit had a decent IPL 2024 season, scoring 417 runs with an average of 32.07 and a strike rate of 150, including a century and a fifty. Since joining Mumbai Indians in 2011, Rohit has become a franchise legend, playing 199 matches and scoring 5,084 runs at an average of 29.39 and a strike rate of 129.86.

As captain from 2013, he led MI to five IPL titles (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019, and 2020) and twice to the playoffs. Rohit also secured two Champions League T20 titles with MI in 2011 and 2013, making him the team’s highest run-scorer with 5,357 runs in 208 matches, including a century and 35 fifties.

Before joining Mumbai, Rohit played for the now-defunct Deccan Chargers from 2008 to 2010, where he scored 1,170 runs in 45 matches, helping them win the IPL title in 2009. Overall, Rohit is the fourth-highest run-scorer in IPL history with 6,254 runs in 244 matches, including a century and 42 fifties.
