India’s young pace sensation Mayank Yadav, who recently made his international debut in the T20I series against Bangladesh, has been sidelined for a few months due to a back issue. Yadav, who claimed four wickets in India’s 3-0 sweep over Bangladesh, was initially expected to participate in the four-match T20I series against South Africa from November 8-15. However, on October 25, the BCCI confirmed his absence from the squad, citing injury concerns. Sources revealed that Yadav’s back problem could keep him out for two to three months, with the potential for a longer recovery period depending on further medical evaluations. Mayank, a product of Delhi’s Sonnet Cricket Club, has faced a series of injuries throughout his career. Following a lower abdominal strain during the IPL 2024 while playing for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), he spent considerable time at the CoE focusing on fitness and match readiness. Known for his remarkable speed, consistently bowling above 150 kmph, Mayank drew attention in the IPL with his three-wicket spells, which were delivered with precision.

Despite his talent, Mayank has struggled with injury setbacks. In IPL 2023, a hamstring tear in a practice session forced him to withdraw from the tournament, while another injury ruled him out of the 2023/24 Ranji Trophy season, requiring a lengthy rehabilitation in Mumbai.
